Please log in to Schoology and go to the Reading Course every 'B' day so that you can see which reading assignment that we are going to read, and which grammar assignment we are going to be doing. I will have everything set up for the entire week. For example, for the Week of March 30th, our Schoology Reading Course will list your assignments for each 'B' day of that week.
I will be assigning work every 'B' day; it will be your job to keep up with your assignments. We will be working in iLit (which can be found in EPISD Plaza), NoRedInk.com, CommonLit, and Khan Academy. These programs are all designed to help you with Reading Strategies and grammar exercises that you can use to help you do better on the STAAR test.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or come talk to me during, before, or after class. I will always check my emails frequently.
Remember, Reading is designed to help strengthen your reading skills. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help with that process.
Sincerely,
Dawn Zumar

Classroom Management Plan
My classroom rules are very simple.
We are here to learn, anything beyond that has no place in the classroom.
We are here to help each other grasp some very difficult concepts to pass a difficult test, anything beyond that has no place in the classroom.
We are here to support and respect each other, anything beyond that has no place in the classroom.
We will be filling out our classroom policy together during the first couple of days of school so that we can post it in Schoology where you and your parents will have a digital copy.

Grading Policy
I will try not to assign too much homework. It is very important that we do our work together as a class and then peer grade so that we can have immediate feedback on specific issues with reading and writing strategies, so most of our work will be done in class. If you find that you just can't get it done, then you will have the option of taking it home, but it must be turned in the next class day.
Any homework missed due to an excused absence will have three days to be completed. On the fourth day it becomes a 70%. On the fifth day it becomes a 50%. Anything after that is a 0, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Please know that if you are struggling with a concept that you can come to us immediately. We am here to help you work it out!
